Dr. Jennifer MacIsaac is our founding physician and Medical Director. She specializes in Medical and Cosmetic Laser Dermatology.

DR. JENNIFER MACISAAC

DERMATOLOGIST, MEDICAL DIRECTOR at Ottawa Derm Centre

Dr. Jennifer MacIsaac is fully immersed in all aspects of Laser Surgery and Cosmetic Dermatology. She is focused primarily on laser and non-surgical solutions for common skin conditions and dermatologic concerns.

She is a double board-certified Dermatologist with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the American Board of Dermatology. She is also an active member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.

Dr. MacIsaac completed both a Dermatology and Family Medicine residency at the University of Ottawa, and received her medical degree from the University of Toronto. She completed a fellowship year in Cutaneous Laser Surgery and Cosmetic Dermatology as well as a year in Women’s Health following her family medicine training. Her Women's Health fellowship included managing focused gynecologic conditions as well as more broad, hormone-related symptoms.

DR. MARK KIRCHHOF

MD, PhD, FRCPC, FAAD
DERMATOLOGIST

Dr. Mark Kirchhof is the Division Head of Dermatology in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa and The Ottawa Hospital. After receiving his bachelor of science in molecular biology from McMaster University, Dr. Kirchhof completed his medical degree and PhD at Western University in London, Ontario. His PhD research involved studies of the signalling pathways important to immune system regulation. He then went on to complete his dermatology residency at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Until August 2017, Dr. Kirchhof was the Education Director at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, where he coordinated and led undergraduate, post-graduate and continuing medical education activities. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed papers and maintains a keen interest in clinical and bench-to-bedside research. He has been invited to speak at local, national and international meetings. His clinical interests are varied and he sees both pediatric and adult patients.



DR. JAMES P. BONAPARTE

MD, MSc, FRCSC
HEAD AND NECK SURGEON

Dr. James P. Bonaparte is a Facial Cosmetic Surgeon and a Head and Neck Surgeon who has received a number of awards and recognitions for both his surgical skills as well as his academic achievements. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, a member of the Canadian Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and has completed a prestigious fellowship with the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Bonaparte has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles focusing on nasal surgery and cosmetic neuromodulators. He is also a reviewer for several National and International medical journals. Dr. Bonaparte is a specialist in the surgical treatment of the aging face. Specifically, he is an expert in rhinoplasty surgery, face lifts, neck lifts, eyelid surgery, scar revisions, as well as many other aspects of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. As an Otolaryngologist – Head and Neck Surgeon, Dr. Bonaparte’s training and experience has focused solely on the face and the head and neck. Aesthetician / Cosmetologist

Job Description

Our dermatology clinic aims to provide a comprehensive, individualized approach to skin care. This approach includes providing patient education about proper skin care and offering treatment of various skin disorders with products, chemical peels, and other treatment modalities. We are looking for a talented individual who is passionate about exceeding patient expectations. To excel in this position, you should be self-motivated and highly patient-oriented. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and guide them through our products and services
  • Provide skin care consultations for patients with troublesome skin or problem areas

Medical Assistant

Job Description

We are searching for a reliable Medical Assistant to perform various office and clinical duties to keep our dermatology practice running efficiently. Our Medical Assistant will work directly with healthcare practice staff to maintain efficient patient and practice flow, maintain patient records, explain common medical procedures to patients and assist in basic examinations.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain all digital patient records within our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and assist in transitioning hard copy records to EHR format
  • Record patient information such as changes in medical history or medications prior to each appointment

Medical Receptionist / Administrative Assistant

Job Description

Our new dermatology practice needs an experienced Medical Receptionist /Administrative Assistant who can perform the administrative duties involved with coordinating patient and physician schedules as well as billing and office organization. As a first point of contact at Ottawa Derm Centre (ODC), we’re looking for a professional who believes in collaborating to provide an exceptional patient experience founded on quality personalized care. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Answer multi-line phones in a timely manner and either address the caller’s needs or direct the caller to the appropriate person
  • Answer questions about ODC and its services
  • Greet patients upon arrival, sign them in and obtain OHIP information and any other necessary data
  • Provide patients with intake and new patient forms as well as copies of our office policies and legally required documents.
  • Process payments from patients for uninsured visits
  • Schedule appointments for new and recurring patients based on Physician /other staff and equipment availability
  • Maintain and manage hard copy patient records along with records in our electronic health record system

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Take a patient history and perform a physical exam in some cases
  • Consider the patient’s reason for seeking treatment, his or her age, socioeconomic factors, expectations and ability to appreciate risk versus reward when determining appropriate treatment, if any
  • Educate patients about their skin condition, treatment options, and general skin care measures; counsel patients and sometimes family members before, during, and after treatment
  • Communicate with patients, physicians and other medical professionals to create a plan of care for each patient while maintaining accurate and current patient medical records
  • Respond to inquiries, concerns, and complaints from patients and their families either in person or by phone
  • Perform medical and cosmetic laser treatments (experience is preferred; ability and willingness to learn is essential)
  • Administer medications, including local anesthesia

  • Sterilization of instruments
