Ultherapy is the only non-surgical treatment approved by Health Canada to lift, tighten, and firm the skin. It delivers ultrasound energy to different depths of the skin to revive, and create collagen & elastin for natural-looking results that improve over time. It is particularly effective for contouring the face, eyebrows, neck and improving lines and wrinkles on the décolletage. This technology works on all areas of the face with little to no downtime.
Who is an ideal candidate for Ultherapy?
A good candidate for Ultherapy is someone who is looking to correct mild sagging skin or to tighten up areas of the skin where they have noticed lines and wrinkles. This treatment can also be used as a preventative measure to offset the look of aging. To generate the best results, the skin should not be overtly sun-damaged and should not be excessively saggy. This treatment is typically used by individuals over 30 years of age.
How do I prepare for an Ultherapy treatment?
Preparing for Ultherapy treatment is minimal. Patients are able to continue with their regular routines before and after the treatment. The treatment areas will just need to be cleaned and have no product on them. During the pre-treatment consultation, the practitioner will advise you about any specific pre-care instructions.
Is there any downtime with an Ultherapy treatment?
With Ultherapy, there is virtually no downtime. Some patients may experience flushing, redness, or mild irritation but these reactions tend to be short-lived. Most patients can resume their normal activities immediately after receiving Ultherapy without having to follow any post-treatment measures.
How does it feel?
Ultherapy is not painful. Rather, patients tend to experience a warm sensation beneath the surface of the skin due to collagen stimulation. Prior to your treatment, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment areas at the clinic to remove any discomfort. An ultrasound gel will also be applied prior to the applicator being placed against your skin. The provider will then use Ultherapy’s ultrasound imaging to customize your treatment and move the applicator around the designated treatment areas.
How long does a treatment take?
Ultherapy tends to take anywhere between 30-90 minutes. Treatments to the chest typically take about 30 minutes compared to the face and neck areas which can take 60 to 90 minutes. This will differ from patient to patient depending on the area(s) being treated.
When will I notice results?
Generally, patients see results between 60 to 180 days following the treatment. The results can last up to a year or more. Future touch-up treatments can also help provide more control over the aging process. Ensure to apply a broadband spectrum sunscreen, ideally containing zinc oxide, to promote the longevity of your results.
