Skin resurfacing is a process in which the skin is removed layer by layer, or damaged in a microscopic and controlled manner. This creates a healing reaction in the skin that stimulates growth of new and healthy skin, resulting in tighter, healthier, smoother, and a more evenly toned appearance. Patients very commonly seek to improve their skin texture. Bumps, flaking, creping, wrinkles, and acne scars, among many other symptoms, can present themselves as texture issues on the skin. We can help reduce the irregularities and make your skin appear and feel smoother. Ideally the skin on our face and body is smooth, supple, and soft but, as we age, our cellular turnover slows down and can create skin texture issues, resulting in dull, bumpy, blemished and sometimes flaky skin. Our team of experts can help smooth the skin out through a variety of treatment options.

Who is an ideal candidate for skin resurfacing?
Skin resurfacing is an excellent tool to visually decrease the signs of aging. It is excellent at reducing fine lines and wrinkles and will also address skin laxity. Patients looking to minimize and reduce the visibility of acne scars and blemishes, as well as even out skin tone and reduce texture issues should benefit from skin resurfacing.

How do I prepare for the treatment?
To prepare for your treatment, avoid tanning or heavy sun exposure, and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily for four weeks before the procedure. You should also avoid any deep facial peel proceeds (e.g. dermabrasion, strong chemical peels) for four weeks in lead-up to the treatment. Do not use medications that cause photosensitivity (such as doxycycline, minocycline) for a minimum of 72 hours prior to the procedure.
Is there any downtime with the treatments?
Skin resurfacing treatments vary in length and frequency depending on the results you are after. At ODC we like to think that we are always working with our patients 24/7 to prevent aging. This is a lifelong decision that requires a multi-modality approach of consistent energy device treatments and a well-thought-out skincare regimen designed by our skin consultants and medical professionals.
How does it feel?
During the treatment, you can expect some moderate discomfort, but the numbing cream applied before the procedure typically makes any discomfort tolerable.
How long does a treatment take?
Depending on the area being treated, the process can take approximately 45 mins to 1 hour.
