					 What is Vbeam

The Vbeam® laser system is a world-renowned, easy-to-use pulsed dye laser recognized as the gold standard technology for the treatment of vascular lesions. The Vbeam pulsed dye laser (PDL) has been proven time and again for the successful treatment of a wide array of vascular, pigmented, and certain non-pigmented lesions, with a low incidence of side effects.
The system uses 595 nm PDL technology to deliver an intense but gentle burst of light into targeted areas of the skin. There it’s absorbed by the blood vessels or melanin pigmented areas, removing the targeted imperfections. Most patients notice results right away, and it’s clinically proven for multiple skin types.
					 Who is an ideal candidate?

Ideal candidates for Vbeam treatment include individuals dealing with rosacea, spider veins, vascular lesions, or specific pigmented concerns. During a thorough consultation at Ottawa Derm Centre, our experts assess your needs and tailor the treatment for optimal results.
					 Is there any downtime?

Vbeam® treatments typically require little to no downtime. Most patients experience mild redness or slight swelling immediately after the procedure, similar to a light sunburn, which usually subsides within a few hours to a couple of days. In some cases, temporary bruising (known as purpura) may occur, depending on the treatment settings and area treated, but it fades naturally within several days. Makeup can usually be applied the next day, and normal activities can be resumed right away.
					 How does it feel?

Patients treated with the Vbeam laser reported experiencing minimal discomfort during treatment.1 Your healthcare provider may administer instant cooling to the skin before, during, and after treatment for added comfort.
How long does a treatment take?

Vbeam sessions are relatively quick, usually lasting between 15 to 30 minutes depending on the size and number of areas being treated. Because the laser delivers precise pulses, multiple areas can be treated efficiently in a single visit. Most patients find the procedure comfortable, with only minimal sensations of warmth or tingling during treatment.
					 When will I notice results?

Many patients notice improvement in redness and vascular concerns within a few days after a Vbeam session, although optimal results usually appear after 2–4 weeks as the skin heals and blood vessels respond to the laser. For some conditions, multiple treatments spaced several weeks apart may be recommended to achieve the best, long-lasting outcome.
