The Sciton HALO® laser system is used to prevent the signs of aging, scars, and acne scars, dark spots, melasma, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, redness, and veins on the face, neck, chest, and body. HALO® is a high-end skin resurfacing laser that operates using two distinct wavelengths (ablative and non-ablative) to target skin conditions. Ablative laser energy targets the skin’s outer layers, and the non-ablative laser energy penetrates into the deeper layers of the skin. This combination of laser energy helps resurface skin, resulting in improved texture and tone.

Depending on your skin’s needs, your HALO® treatment can be customized to target visible signs of aging and damage on the skin to reveal healthy, rejuvenated skin with less downtime than traditional fractional laser treatments.

HALO® is designed for men and women of all ages and skin types to achieve dramatic skin rejuvenation effects with just a few treatments. HALO® is best for patients who have mild to moderate skin discoloration, sun damage, and signs of aging on the face, neck, or body.

The week before a HALO® treatment, patients should discontinue any products that contain active ingredients such as: Retinol, Glycolic Acid, Vitamin A, Salicylic Acid, AHAs, LHAs, and Benzoyl Peroxide. You should also stop any hydroquinone treatments at least 3 days before your appointment. Do not wax or use depilatory creams on the treatment areas for 2 weeks before treatment.

Please arrive at the clinic with a clean face, without any makeup, in the lead-up to your appointment.

Recovery from HALO® is much quicker than traditional fractional laser skin resurfacing treatments. Most patients are able to return to their daily activities within a few days. Depending on the intensity of the treatment, your skin will be red and swollen like a sunburn for several hours. The swelling can last 2-3 days after treatment, depending on how your skin heals.

As your skin heals, it will start to take on a bronzed effect, that will fade over a few days and the treated skin will peel. This can be covered with makeup. Fresh, new skin will start to be revealed over the next few weeks. Your skin will be especially sensitive to the sun initially, so it is recommended that you apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen, ideally containing zinc oxide, regularly and avoid prolonged sun exposure for several weeks after treatment.

Before the treatment, your provider will place a topical anesthetic ointment to numb the area being treated. You should feel minimal to no discomfort as the handpiece glides over your skin. Simultaneously, cool air will blow for additional comfort. After the treatment, most patients will continue to feel warm for an additional 30 to 60 minutes, or longer for deeper treatment levels.

Between the check-in, photos, the numbing, and the procedure itself, the visit could take approximately two hours. Most visits will not take that long, though it will depend on the size of the treatment area.

Patients receiving HALO® treatments can expect remarkable results in just 1 to 2 treatments. While you can expect some redness initially, you will start to see results within a few weeks after your treatment. You will continue to see improvements to the treated area over the course of 3-6 months. Multiple sessions may be needed to meet your ultimate goals. Ensure to use a broadband sunscreen of SPF 30 or more, that ideally contains zinc oxide, to ensure the longevity of the results.
