What is Preventing Sun Damage?

Despite the increased awareness of the damaging effects of UV exposure and tanning beds, sun damage is still common. Sun damage is a result of UV exposure. Unfortunately, we are all suffering from it to a certain degree. The visible signs of it are premature aging with skin laxity, rhytids (wrinkles), fine lines, dry scaly patches often referred to as actinic keratosis, moles, brown spots, melasma, and many more. Correcting sun damage is not just a cosmetic matter, but also a preventative measure to further medical problems that can lead to skin cancers. The best defense is prevention.

Preventing Sun Damage

Sunscreen. Sunscreen. Sunscreen!

It should be a product in everyone’s home. Sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30 is required. Sunscreen is rarely used correctly and as often as it should be to truly protect and prevent sun damage. One of the main reasons for incorrect use is that people just don’t like the feel or are misinformed about ingredients and how often they need to re-apply. We have created a wonderful sunscreen bar with several different sunscreen brands for you to choose from that have been hand-selected by our dermatologist. We are confident there is a correct option for you that will be comfortable to use, and we encourage taking a look at our sunscreen bar, either online or at your next appointment.

The staff at the clinic are all so great and professional. I highly recommend the clinic for any procedure you need done! -Layla P.
